The scientific and technological contingent was developed to firm steps. In order year, the companies and institutions of state property counted with 29,26 million employees and specialized technicians of diverse types of workings, which supposes an increase of the 0,75% in comparison with end of the previous year. 2.81 million people were dedicated to the scientific and technological activities, included 1,56 million scientists and engineers.

The works of technical innovation made new progresses. In 2000, the State organized 280 projects keys of technical innovation and the experimental manufacture of 1.329 new high-priority products, and granted priority to the investigation, manufacture, verification and acceptance of 101 technological equipment of extreme importance. The cooperation between the companies, the universities and the institutions of investigation was fortified more. In all the year, 400.000 organizations and 4,6 million people participated in this cooperation, in accordance with which they decided to sign 140.000 projects of cooperation.

The scientific studies and technological developments obtained new fruits. Through year, 30.260 profits of important science and technology at provincial, ministerial level were obtained and superior. Of that total, 2.420 correspond to the basic theory, 26.020 to applied technology and 820 to smooth sciences, besides near 300 results awarded by the State. In 2000, 170.690 requests of patents national and foreign and ratified 105.344 were taken care of, with an increase of 27,2% and 5.2%, respectively. The technical market became more assets. In all the country, 265.000 technological contracts were signed altogether, for 63.000 million of yuanes, which means an increase of 20% on the previous year.

The space technology obtained new advances. Satellites in six occasions were sent successfully.

The services related to the quality, the standardization, the measurement and the weather forecast were harnessed in greater degree. In the country 5.500 organizations of examination of the quality of products worked, among them 230 state centers dedicated to that work. The State supervised and examined in selective form 9.705 products of 235 varieties made by 8.142 companies. 59 organizations of quality certification existed, including 23 of product certification, which had finished the confirmation of products of 13.194 companies. In the country there were 4.505 technological organizations of legal measurement, those that verified of obligatory way 4.069 apparatuses and measuring instruments. 1.087 state standards were decided and reviewed, including 196 of obligatory force and 605 new standards were elaborated. 951 stations and points of emission pertaining to the rear area nets for the meteorological prognosis and the warning and 315 stations and reception points were established of cloud images via satellite in the cities and the field. 1.234 seismological stations and 27 networks of remote detection existed. There was 927 centers and observing points oceanographic and supervision, that obtained 20,7 million groups of oceanic data. The topography departments cartography published 1.150 maps and 364 books.
