In 1950, that is to say, just a short time after the foundation of the new China, the first group integrated by 30 European students entered the Qinghua University (Peking) to study with famous Chinese linguist Lü Shuxiang. At that same time, China began to send to professors of Chinese to the foreigner.
With the establishment of the Military preparatory school of Foreign Students, predecesora of the present University of Language and Culture of Peking, the systematic diffusion of the education of the Chinese to the foreigners began. On the other hand, the activities organized by the universities (narration of histories, representation of humorous dialogs, staging of brief, recitales pieces of poetry, etc.) offer to the foreign students a magnificent opportunity to interchange experiences and to show their abilities. This ample range of possibilities is very well welcomed by the students.
The society can consider itself like an extension of the classroom. In this sense, the contact with the rest of the society contributes decisively that the foreign students whose knowledge on China are little know our country more thoroughly. In combination with teaching, every year practical exercises of language in different places are organized, so that the foreign students can become familiar with the diverse popular customs, dialectal cultures and variants; also, places of tourist interest, agricultural and cattle factories and operations are visited.
