Transport, post office and telecommunications
The demand of the transport of passengers and merchandize was increased of stable form and the sector of the mail, telegraphs and communications very quickly continued growing. In 2000, these sectors lifted the value added to 491.900 million of yuanes, for an increase of the 9,4% against the previous year.
In all the year, the volume of circulation of merchandize realized in diverse modalities was of 4,3359 trillions of ton/km, with an increase of 7,1% on the previous year. Of that total, 1,3624 trillions of ton/km were realized by the railroads, with an increase of 6.1%; 597,300 million of ton/km were it by the highways, with an increase of 4,4%; 2,3061 trillions of ton/km by the aquatic routes, with an increase of 8,5%; and 4.850 million of ton/km by civil aviation, with an increase of 14,6%.
The shipment of passengers was of 1,2188 trillions of personas/km, for an increase of 7,9% in comparison with the previous year. Of this total, 448.800 million of personas/km were by train, with an increase of the 8,5%; 660,000 million of personas/km traveled by highway, with an increase of the 6,5%; 10,400 million of did personas/km it by water, which implies a diminution of the 3,1%; and 99.600 million of personas/km by airplane, for an increase of the 16,2%.
The volume of mobilization of merchandize in the main ports of the coast reached 1.280 million tons, with an increase of 21,7%. Of that total, the volume of mobilization of merchandize for the foreign trade was of 520 million tons, which implies an increase of 33,9%.
The sector of post office and telecommunications registered a maintained and fast development, and reached a volume of operations for 472.500 million of yuanes, with an increase of 41,9% on the previous year. In order year, the commutators in the scope of offices reached 179.000 million lines, whereas the users of movable telephone ascended to 85,26 million, 41,97 million more than the previous year. The country had 20,1 telephones by each 100 people, and in the cities the number was of 39 by each 100 people. The users of Internet added a total of 9 million (not including the Networks of sciences and technologies and education).
