Economy with the outside

Thanks to the accelerated growth of the national economy and the world-wide one and to the impulse given by a series of political measures of stimulus to the exports, the foreign trade maintained a growth of high rate. In the 2000, China registered a global volume of import and exports of 474.300 million dollars, with an increase of 31,5% on the previous year. The exports mounted to 249.200 million dollars, with an increase of 27,8%; and the imports totalized 225.100 million dollars, with an increase of 35,8%. Compared both headings, the surplus was of 24.100 million dollars. Between the exports, those of the companies of state property they were of 116.500 million dollars, with an increase of 18,2%; those of the companies with foreign investment they were of 119.400 million dollars, with an increase of 34,8%; those of the general commerce they were of 105.200 dollars, with an increase of 32,9%; those of the commerce of processing with imported materials they were of 96.500 million dollars, with an increase of 28,5%; those of mechanical and electronic products they were of 105.300 million dollars, with an increase of 36,9%; and those of products of discharges and new technologies they were of 37.000 million dollars, with an increase of 50%. Between the imports, those of products of the type of natural resources they were increased quickly; and those of mechanical and electronic products and those of products of discharges and new technologies also they were accelerated remarkably, with an increase of 32,6% in the first group and another one of 39,7% in the second.

The situation in the use of foreign investments improved. In the 2000 22.347 projects new of foreign investment were approved, with an increase of 32,1% in relation to the previous year; the amount of investment by contract was of 62.400 million dollars, with an increase of 51,3%; and the amount available of direct foreign investments was of 40.700 million dollars, with an increase of 1%.

The work hiring, the labor cooperation on watch and the consultancy of design in relation to the outside maintained the growth impetus. In the 2000 an amount of 14.900 million dollars by contracts signed, with an increase of 15% on the previous year was registered; and the conducted operations were of 11.300 million dollars, with an increase of 1%. All this contributed to the exports for 900 million dollars, with an increase of 35%.
