The Supreme Popular Office of the public prosecutor

The Supreme Popular Office of the public prosecutor is the organ of office of the public prosecutor of more high level of the State and also of legal supervision. The main task of the Supreme Popular Office of the public prosecutor (FPS), supreme fiscal organ, consists of directing to the local popular offices of the public prosecutor and the special offices of the public prosecutor in the legal supervision according to the law, in order to guarantee the application unified and correct of the laws of the State. The FPS responds before the APN and its Permanent Committee, informs to them into its work and accepts its supervision.

According to stipulated in the Constitution and the laws, the FPS has the following main functions: to direct the work of the local popular offices of the public prosecutor and special the popular offices of the public prosecutor of all the levels, to give by seen law direct the cases of embezzlement, bribe, violation of the democratic rights of the citizens and prevarication, to formalize these cases its investigation and to decide if it is necessary to present/display accusations; to practice by law the legal supervision of the judgments and the investigations related to the penal cases; to examine and to approve according to right the arrests and the accusations related to important penal crimes; to practice the legal supervision of the development of the judgment of the penal cases; according to the law, to interpose before the Supreme Popular Court appeals against the verdicts and erroneous failures of the popular courts of the diverse instances that have entered indeed; to practice by law the supervision of the carried out activities in the prisons and reformatorios; to make judicial interpretations of the problems regarding the application laws makes specific arisen in the fiscal work; to elaborate regulations, rules and stipulations on the fiscal work; to direct and to administer by law to the public prosecutors; to organize and to orient the education and preparation of pictures pertaining to the fiscal system; to organize the outer managements of the fiscal organisms; and to develop pertinent the judicial attendance.
